Our Chapter came together for another productive member meeting, packed with updates, planning, and forward momentum for 2026. A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the conversations that keep our industry strong. And of course, we had some fun racing around the track at APEX—nothing like a little friendly competition to cap off the year!
Committee UpdatesWe heard from all our committee leads, including Legislative, Membership, Program, Public Relations, Social Media, Education & Apprenticeship, Golf, NextGen, Community Projects, Scholarship, Code Assistance, and BSF Charity. Thank you to all our chairs for keeping these programs moving.
Key Discussions• Education & Apprenticeship and Community Project planning for 2026 is underway.
• Tentative 2026 Board & Member Meeting dates were reviewed.
• 2026 AFSA National Convention will be held September 27–30 in San Antonio, TX.
• AFSA Golf Tournament planning is gearing up for 2026.
• Henrico County Career Fair is scheduled for February 25, 2026.
Leadership Updates• We extend our sincere appreciation to Tom Klecka – Director, Steve McGee – Executive Director, and Bob Beckwith – Chapter President, who are all stepping away at the end of this year. They were presented with awards in recognition of their service and dedication to our chapter.
• A very warm congratulations to Timothy “Hooper” Loscomb, unanimously elected as the next AFSA VA Chapter President beginning January 1, 2026.
Presentations• Program Presentation: Pat Dixon of Perimeter Solutions shared insight on transitioning from AFFF to fluorine-free foams and key PFAS considerations.
• Vendor Presentation: Woody Witczak with Victaulic showcased new products and innovations hitting the market.
