On May 25th, 2023 The Virginia Chapter of AFSA received a Business Honor Roll award on behalf of Virginia School Boards Association, after being nominated by Henrico County Public Schools, who we have been working with on the Regency Mall project plus a few career fairs this year.
The Business Honor Roll Award is a way for local school divisions to recognize local businesses for their support, especially as schools face increasing budget uncertainty. The Business Honor Roll helps divisions say “thank you” for their vital contributions.
Mac Beaton, Director of Workforce and Career Development with HCPS, shared the following about our Chapter:
The Virginia Chapter of AFSA has really “showed up” to make a difference. So often companies and organizations say they want to get involved but only to a certain level. You have truly gone above and beyond to help our students learn about opportunities in the industry that we could not do in the classroom. While the donation of time and materials truly is phenomenal, the fact that you took the time to mentor and teach our students is what takes this relationship to a new level. I look forward to what is next as we continue to set the path for your industry and hope that others will learn and copy your level of engagement.
